A Message from the Executive Director/CEO

Responsive. Innovative. Cost-effective. Results Oriented.

These are more than just words to the staff of the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit. They reflect our values and goals—values and goals that were redefined by the staff and adopted by our Board after I joined the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit. Since that time, we have truly embraced them as the heart of our mission. They serve as our motivation to be the first choice of schools and students seeking educational assistance and keep us working hard to provide programs and services that exceed our schools and school districts expectations.

Fulfilling this mission on an ongoing basis means that we have to be RESPONSIVE to the more than 22 public school districts and 170 nonpublic schools in Montgomery County. With the continual changes in education and differing needs of each client, it is essential to evaluate the specific needs of each on a regular basis. We pride ourselves on forming personal relationships so that the programs and services we provide are tailored, effective and RESULTS ORIENTED. As a partner in education, we know that if our schools and students aren’t successful, we aren’t successful.

In delivering programs and services, we also strive to be INNOVATIVE and COST-EFFECTIVE. We understand the financial restraints that our schools face and how difficult it is to provide excellence in all areas of education with shrinking resources.

When we tackle an issue for one of our clients, our staff dedicate themselves to finding innovative solutions to satisfy requirements passed down from a federal, state or local level and to surpass the expectations of our community. Our staff are required to be active learners who fully understand and can teach best practice. They are committed to being proactive and energetic advocates in educational initiatives; being at the forefront of technological advancements; and being responsible guardians of the limited public resources we all receive.

The Montgomery County Intermediate Unit has a 37 year legacy of providing service to the many clients of Montgomery County. We believe our renewed mission to embrace the goals of providing responsive, innovative, cost-effective and results-oriented services, has strengthened our legacy to create more favorable outcomes for those we serve. We look forward to our continued partnerships and combined contributions to education.
