Online Course/Project Development

The opportunity for you and your students to participate in a course online can be enriching, timely, and very convenient. Online courses can offer a wide variety of strategies and tools to engage students in thoughtful reflection, interactive learning, and robust discussion and collaboration. Courses can be developed to be offered fully online with your guidance and facilitation. They can be hybrid, also know as blended, courses that provide some online activities and meetings as well as some face-to-face meetings. The course management sytem can also be used to offer resources and a more limited role for fully face-to-face courses.

The term "course" can be loosely defined in this environment. In fact, the course management system can be set up to support any project or group of individuals that have an education goal that would benefit from online discussions, file sharing, easy and centralized communication, and other collaborative tools. Imagine just a few uses:

  • learning communities,
  • faculty communication,
  • curriculum-focused work groups,
  • school improvement planning and support,
  • grade-level resource development
  • coaching support for teachers

If you are ready to move your course or project online, you can received instructional design support and technology assistance as you develop your it in the Moodle course management system. Contact Yvonne Holman yholman@mciu.org to discuss your ideas.
