Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) and Individualized Education Program (IEP)
You and a team of professionals make up the MDT which will identify your child’s strengths and needs. You will also participate in an IEP meeting which outlines the services your child may be eligible to receive.

The Screening Process
The completed forms are then reviewed, and you will be contacted to schedule a screening for your child. A screening is a brief assessment to determine if a possible delay in development is present and if further evaluations are required.
Further Evaluations
If the screening process recommends additional evaluations, then one of the two scheduling secretaries will contact you to schedule these evaluations. If the results of your child’s evaluations show a 25% delay or more or that they have a physical or mental disability you will proceed to the next step.
We offer special education programs to preschoolers who may be experiencing delays in the development of skills in 5 domains;
Birth to 3
If your child is between the ages of birth to 3 years old, your child is served by Montgomery County’s Mental Health/ Mental Retardation (MHMR), who can be contacted at 610-277-7176 or at http://www.montcopa.org/mhmrda/
Between Ages of 3 and 5
If your child is between the ages of 3 and 5 years old, your child is served by the Montgomery County Early Intervention/Preschool Program.
The Referral Process
The referral packet contains the following forms which must be completed to the best of your ability and returned to Early Intervention Program, MCIU, 1605 West Main Street, Norristown, PA 19403.
