School Messenger FAQs (for MCIU employees)

1. What do I do if I get the message “account not created, e-mail address is already in use”?
- When you are on the "Create a New" Account page, click at the bottom and select “Return to Sign In.”
- You can then sign in using your email address and the password that you created.
- Proceed from Step 4 of the directions in my email
2. I see that I have "No Messages." Doesn't that mean that I am signed up?
NO. Seeing that you have “no messages” is not the final step. You must navigate to the Contacts tab and click the edit link to the right of your name (see below) and proceed from there:
3. I got a phone call or email alert from MCIU, but I'm told I'm not signed up. Why is that?
You put your phone number and/or email address on the "Create a New Account" page. This is optional information. This is NOT where you fill in your contact information. All your information is put on the page below:
4. I have gone through set up 3 times now. Why am I still not signed up?
You are not getting beyond the "Create a New Account" page. Please see Step #1 above.
5. Do I have to sign up for School Messenger or is it optional?
This is something that should be discussed with your Supervisor or Director. We hope to replace the MCIU snow chain with School Messenger sometime in the future. If you do not have a School Messenger account set up, you would need to get closing info from another source then such as the MCIU website, Facebook, Twitter, or KYW.
6. Once I create my account and put in my contact information, am I all done with School Messenger?
No. School Messenger is not a once and done sign in. You will be responsible for updating your own information anytime your info changes: phone number, email address, or to change your message preferences. We will send a reminder once a year – around October – telling folks to check their contact information. The link to return to School Messenger is found on the MCIU website under Popular Links. You will log in with your email address and the password that you created.
7. I am not usually in the MCIU building. Do I have to sign up for School Messenger?
That is a matter that you will need to discuss with your Supervisor or Director.
