The Montgomery County Intermediate Unit partners with higher education institutes to offer graduate level courses. The courses are held at the MCIU making it a convenient choice for teachers to advance their careers. The programs include Master’s degrees, administration certifications, Superintendent’s Letter of Eligibility and a variety of graduate level courses in many subject areas.
Continuing Professional Education
Beginning July 1, 2000, Act 48 of 1999 required persons holding Pennsylvania professional educator certification to complete continuing education requirements every five years in order to maintain their certificates as active. The MCIU offers a variety of Continuing Professional Education (CPE) courses for either CPE credit or graduate credit through partnering universities. MCIU CPE courses are PDE approved and can be used towards Level II certification. CPE courses provide practical skills and information that promote professional growth. Course offerings are open to all school personnel from Montgomery County and surrounding areas.
Through a collaborative agreement with the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit certain Continuing Professional Education (CPE) courses facilitated through the MCIU are offered for graduate credit. You should verify with your employer which type of credit is required for pay scale movement.
The new and innovative Neumann University Ed.D. program for Education Leadership is convenient and pragmatic. Complete courses in class and online, and conduct research in your school district. The curriculum is based on a problem-solving approach to issues you encounter every day. There are three tracks:
1. Principal Certification
2. Special Education Certification & Autism Endorsement
3. Superintendent’s Letter of Eligibility
