MCIU was awarded the Pre-K Counts grant on January 8, 2016. The grant allows us to deliver high-quality pre-kindergarten programs to 100 age-appropriate children at no cost to income eligible families in Montgomery County. Children must be between age three and the entry age for kindergarten and living in families earning up to 300 percent of the poverty level (family of four with gross income of $71,550). Children may also be impacted by other risk factors, such as English Language Learners, family in the welfare system, or having disabilities or developmental delays.
Our Early Learning Academy at 1605 West Main Street houses 5 Pre-K Counts classrooms. In addition, we have two classrooms in the North Penn School District as well as one classroom in both the Souderton Area School District and the Upper Merion Area School District.
It is our hope that as more funding becomes available from the state, we will be able to increase the number of children served by the MCIU Pre-K Counts program.
