Title I Districts
Title I is a federally funded program that provides supplemental educational services (remedial reading and mathematics support) to eligible students in Montgomery County. As part of a district’s Title I grant, there is an equitable participation component for eligible Title I students in the nonpublic schools who live within the attendance area of a participating public school in the district. Each district determines how it will provide Title I services in consultation with officials of the private schools for their students in nonpublic schools. Currently sixteen public school districts within Montgomery Country contract with the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit to deliver these services via the Office of Non-Public Services. In turn, the ONPS provides reading and/or math support to these students as well as forwarding the required compliance documentation to individual districts for these services.
The sixteen school districts who contracted with the ONPS of the MCIU for the 2016-17 school year are the following: Abington, Cheltenham, Colonial, Hatboro-Horsham, Lower Merion, Methacton, Norristown Area, North Penn, Perkiomen Valley, Pottsgrove, Pottstown, Springfield Township, Upper Merion, Upper Moreland, Wissahickon, and Penn Ridge (Bucks County).
