MCIU Right to Education Local Task Force
Parents of special education students are the mainstay of the Right to Education Local Task Force (LTF). The LTF brings together all the stakeholders in the education of children with disabilities. The primary purpose of the LTF is to make recommendations that assist in improving, strengthening, expanding and monitoring programs and services for school age children with special needs. Each LTF is composed of the intermediate unit executive director or designee, a representative school district superintendent or designee, a county mental health and intellectual disability administrator(s) or designee(s), a local chapter of the Arc representative, consumer representative(s) and any other private citizen or agency representative necessary to accomplish the purposes of the group. The LTF works with direct service providers, both public and private in planning for a continuum of programs and services. It serves as a vehicle for educating the community about the needs of students with disabilities. Public awareness campaigns include advertisements in local newspapers, creating a link on the MCIU website, and sending invitations to school districts and parent groups. The LTF is an example of how the MCIU Mission provides dynamic and visionary leadership for our school districts, schools, and students.
Meetings are held at Montgomery County Intermediate Unit, 2 West Lafayette Street, Norristown, PA.
