Challenge information and description
what is the event?
The K’nex Design Challenge is an event for students in grades 4 – 8 where they build a project out of K’Nex pieces. Students work in teams of 4 to design and build their project. The top team from the MCIU Regional Event will be eligible to compete at the state competition. Students will be judged on the following criteria using this rubric:
- Challenge Success
- Budget (Parts Cost List)
who is the event for?
The event will be open to 4th – 8th grade students from Montgomery County schools.
when is the regional event?
Monday, March 2, 2020 from 10am – 1:30pm at the Corbett Center in Norristown, PA.
- Snow Date: March 24, 2020
when is the state event?
The winner of the regional event will advance to the state event. The state event will be held on May 8, 2020 at the Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg.
Is there a cost for the event?
Yes. The cost for each team is $75. This fee includes a K’nex kit for all teams.
